How we're regulated
Protecting Your Money
Earnr is licensed and regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). This means we operate under detailed obligations around customer protection, transparency, and compliance.Because Earnr serves both retail and wholesale customers, we are held to some of the strictest financial services regulations in Australia. With much of our leadership team having backgrounds in risk management at Australia’s largest banks, we take a proactive approach to meeting and exceeding regulatory standards, and view strong oversight as fundamental to how we operate. Our regulatory obligations include the following requirements:Independent custodian‍All customer funds and assets must be held and controlled by an independent custodian. At Earnr, this role is fulfilled by Sandhurst Trustees, a subsidiary of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. This ensures that customer money is kept separate from Earnr’s own operations and safeguarded on trust.Responsible Entity‍Earnr must also operate under a Responsible Entity (RE). The RE is legally responsible for overseeing Earnr, ensuring it is managed in line with the law and in the best interests of customers. To provide an additional layer of oversight, Earnr uses an independent Responsible Entity, one of Australia’s most experienced funds groups, with more than 35 years of operating history.Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance‍Earnr is required to hold professional indemnity insurance to help protect customers in the unlikely event of errors, omissions, or breaches of duty.External Audits‍It is a regulatory requirement that Earnr is routinely externally audited. This ensures Earnr is continuously meeting its obligations and that customer assets are accurately reported and properly managed. External audits cover:Customer positions and balancesCash and financial recordsAudit of our compliance planOperational checks across processes and controlsOur overarching regulatory structure provides a multi-layered system of oversight and protection:Your funds are held by an independent custodianAn independent Responsible Entity with over 35 years of experience oversees operationsRegular external audits verify customer assets and complianceStringent operating and identification standards are in place across our institution

How do I add funds to Earnr?

Once your account is open and verified, you’re ready to add funds and start earning interest. To add funds one of your Earnr Accounts:

  • Log into the Earnr app or Earnr online
  • Select Add Funds on the home page in the Earnr app, or the sidebar in Earnr online (you can also select Add Funds on the Transfers screen)
  • Select the account you're adding funds to, enter the amount, check and confirm
  • You'll be presented with instructions on where to send funds to
  • Open your banking app and make the transfer according to the details in the Earnr App (take extra care checking the details)

When will my funds arrive?

Generally your funds will reach Earnr on the same day, or the next business day.

Exactly when depends on the payment method used by your bank, and depending on the payment method, how your bank batches payments and what time you transfer the funds.

If your bank allows you to choose the payment type, the quickest way to get your funds to Earnr is to select 'Osko' as the payment type.

If your bank doesn't allow you to choose the payment type (and doesn't send them via Osko behind the scenes) they'll generally reach Earnr late in the evening on the day you sent them or the next business day (if you've sent them after 5pm Sydney time).

When will I start earning interest?

Generally if your funds appear at Earnr before 2pm Sydney time, they'll be cleared and you'll start earning interest that day.

If they appear after 2pm, you'll start earning interest the next business day.

It's over one business day, why can't I see my funds?

This may be due to one of the following:

  • Your bank may be taking longer than usual to process the transfer - this can occur on your first transfer to Earnr or due to an issue with your bank.
  • A whole business day hasn't passed - if you've sent the funds after 5pm or on the weekend or a public holiday, make sure a whole business day has passed.
  • Our systems and processes have flagged the need for more information relating to your account or transaction - expect to hear from us and see more information here.
  • You entered incorrect account details for Earnr sending funds - in this case your funds will generally bounce back to your account within 2 business days.

If it’s been more than one whole business day and your funds still haven’t appeared, get in touch with us via support@earnr.com.au or 1300 332 062.

What if I send funds to Earnr but forget to specify what account I want them in?

In this case, our operations team will make contact with you. Once you're verified we'll record your instruction, and apply them to your preferred account.

If we can't contact you within 1 business day of the receipt of your funds and your account is verified, your funds will be added to your Earnr Everyday account.
