Protecting Your Money
Earnr is licensed and regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). This means we operate under detailed obligations around customer protection, transparency, and compliance.Because Earnr serves both retail and wholesale customers, we are held to some of the strictest financial services regulations in Australia.With much of our leadership team having backgrounds in risk management at Australia’s largest banks, we take a proactive approach to meeting and exceeding regulatory standards, and view strong oversight as fundamental to how we operate.Our regulatory obligations include the following requirements:Independent custodian‍All customer funds and assets must be held and controlled by an independent custodian. At Earnr, this role is fulfilled by Sandhurst Trustees, a subsidiary of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. This ensures that customer money is kept separate from Earnr’s own operations and safeguarded on trust.Responsible Entity‍Earnr must also operate under a Responsible Entity (RE). The RE is legally responsible for overseeing Earnr, ensuring it is managed in line with the law and in the best interests of customers. To provide an additional layer of oversight, Earnr uses an independent Responsible Entity, one of Australia’s most experienced funds groups, with more than 35 years of operating history.Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance‍Earnr is required to hold professional indemnity insurance to help protect customers in the unlikely event of errors, omissions, or breaches of duty.External Audits‍It is a regulatory requirement that Earnr is routinely externally audited. This ensures Earnr is continuously meeting its obligations and that customer assets are accurately reported and properly managed. We've invested significantly to help keep your account and funds safe, and to protect your data.

We use a range of measures to do this, which in include:

Secure account sign up

Unlike some account signup processes, Earnr's account signup is authenticated from the start and truly digital. If you don't finish your account application, you can only access it with your encrypted password, and not via a link which could be compromised or shared. We don't send account application forms over email as they risk exposing your data - any data you provide to us is done so inside your application and is encrypted when in transit to us.

Multi layer verification

We verify your identity during our account sign up, as well as any other individuals and beneficial interests who are a party to the account being opened with us, to help ensure we know who we are dealing with. Mobiles and emails of all individuals are also verified, to help ensure we know its you when you call or email us, and to make sure we only send messages to verified contact details. Finally we verify your linked bank account to make sure it's in the same name as your Earnr account, and to make sure you have control of it.

Multi-factor authentication

We use multi-factor authentication (MFA) including passwords that meet our security rules, one time passwords (OTPs) , biometric verification, and on device pin numbers, to authenticate you during account activity. To access your account online you'll need:

  • A password that matches our security rules
  • Access to the mobile phone you registered during signup to receive OTPs
  • A pin code and/or biometric security set up on your mobile device

Advanced Fraud Detection

Our systems record and detect unusual or suspicious activity. If unusual activity is detected, account access and account functionality may be blocked.

Data Encryption and Security

Our data is encrypted in transit between your keyboard or phone and us, stored securely, and encrypted while stored.

Earnr combines best in industry operational processes with our innovation and advanced technology to help keep you safe but still keep things moving as quickly as possible.
